How to get to Bova Marina
By Train
Bova Marina is easily attainable by train from Vienna via Tarvisio-Udine-Venezia-Bologna-Firenze-Roma-Napoli-Reggio di Calabria-Bova Marina.
Another way is from Innsbruck via Brennero-Verona-Bologna and after as above.

By Car
Two different journeys are usual:

the first via Vienna-Graz-Klagenfurt-Tarvisio-Udine-Venezia (by motorway - "autostrada") or
-
the second Innsbruck-Brennero-Verona-Bologna (always by motorway).
For the first journey it is possible to take three alternative routes when arrived in Venezia.

The motorway towards Bologna-Firenze-Roma-Salerno-Reggio di Calabria-highway (SS 106) to Bova Marina.

Motorway direction Bologna-Ravenna- highway (E 45) to Perugia (this one is a rather good road for a highway, and it is free, without payment)-Orte (motorway to Rome, after as above).

This is the cheapest way, Venezia- highway (E 55) to Ravenna (it is free, but pay attention because this one is rather bad)-Perugia and after as above.
Two routes are possible for the second journey (via Innsbruck-Brennero) either itinerary (1) or itinerary (2), see above.

The bus is the cheapest means. It is possible to plan the trip from Prague or Bratislava to Rome Tiburtina. In Rome the journey continues by bus from Roma Tiburtina to Reggio di Calabria ("Lirosi" bus company) or to Bova Marina ("Saja" bus company). Another journey is by train from Roma Termini to Reggio di Calabria and after to Bova Marina.

Ferry boat from Calabria to Sicily
From Villa San Giovanni to Messina
F.S. (Italian railways) the price for car is about 25 EUR, return ticket; the persons in the car don't pay. The price for person without car is 2,5 EUR. Caronte ferry boats (private company) these boats are faster than the F.S. The prices are the same as F.S.
From Reggio di Calabria to Messina
F.S. (Italian railways), it is possible to use the hydrofoil, the price for one way is about 3,5 EUR. Meridiano (private company), the price for a car for one way is about 8 EUR the persons in the car don't pay. Caronte ferry boat (private company), the same prices as Meridiano.
To get to the Eolie Islands
The more comfortable way is from Milazzo (Sicily), this town is joined daily with the Eolie Islands, by ferry boat and hydrofoil. The cost for one person for one way (from Milazzo to Vulcano) by ferryboat is about 9 EUR the children under 8 pay 5 EUR. The cost for one person for one way (from Milazzo to Vulcano) by hydrofoil is about 14 EUR the children under 8 pay 8 EUR. The group of 10 persons received a discount of 10%.
